Our History
Melissokomia Kritis is a Greek company that is active in the field of beekeeping, specializing in recent years in the production of queens, nuc hives and queen cells. The roots of our business begin in 1960 with its founding by Fragkiskos Maragoudakis in the village of Sasalos in Chania. In 1989, his son Lefteris took over the business, modernizing it day by day, always striving for a better possible result. For the last 20 years, Lefteris Maragoudakis, now having the necessary experience and knowledge at work, decided to develop our business one level further and to expand in the field of queen bee breeding. Now Melissokomia Kritis, starting from Chania, has a large and stable clientele throughout Greece and abroad.
Beekeeping
Through experiences of millions of kilometers on the island of Crete and Greece in general, communication and relationships with hundreds of colleagues but also presentations and speeches at dozens of conferences and universities over the years, Melissokomia Kritis and Lefteris Maragoudakis are a reliable "partner" every new but also professional beekeeper, who aims at the development of his beekeeping business.
Queen bee breeding
Our main occupation for the last 10 years is the field of Queen bee breeding. The key ingredient of our success is the high quality genetic material of the Caucasian Queen bee that we have, in combination with the many years of experience of Lefteris Maragoudakis. Our goal is to produce the highest quality queens possible, thus ensuring a better result to the work of every beekeeper. Along with the production of queens, our concern is the production of even Queen Cells and Royal Jelly.
